'The US must stop encouraging war and start talking about peace,' says Lula.

The president said that the main objective at the moment should be "to convince Putin and Zelensky that peace is in everyone's interest and that war only benefits the two of them."

247 - Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT), upon leaving his hotel in Beijing, appealed to the United States: "stop encouraging war and start talking about peace," in order to facilitate an agreement between Russia and Ukraine. He stated that "China has a very important role," but added that "another important country is the United States."

According to Lula, "the US needs to stop encouraging war and start talking about peace, so we can convince Putin and Zelensky that peace is in everyone's interest and that war, for now, only benefits those two."

Regarding the Brazilian proposal to create a "peace club," Lula stated that he had discussed it at length with the Chinese leader, Xi Jinping: "It is necessary to form a group of countries willing to find a way to make peace. I discussed this with the Europeans, I discussed this with the Americans, and I discussed this yesterday." He added that "who is not at war who can help end this war? Only those who are not advocating for war can create a commission and discuss ending this war."

Lula also criticized the European Union, stating that "it needs to have goodwill so that we can have peace in the world again."
