The US has created a sanctions plan to undermine Russian exports, with potential losses of US$50 billion.
The White House is preparing a package in conjunction with the CIA in case tensions escalate with Ukraine.
Sputnik - US President Joe Biden said last week that the US would impose unprecedented sanctions if Russia invades Ukraine.
According to a report published by the German newspaper Bild on Tuesday (25), the United States is preparing, together with the CIA, a package of additional sanctions against Russia in the event of an escalation of tensions with Ukraine.
The publication states that the sanctions were presented by US Secretary of State Antony Blinken during a visit to Berlin last Thursday (20). Bild also reports that the sanctions are focused on the export of Russian commodities and weapons. The financial impact would be around US$ 50 billion, approximately R$ 275 billion.
The article states that Blinken had made it "clear" that he planned to "block Russian trade routes worldwide."
According to Bild, diplomatic relations would also be reduced as part of the sanctions, with cuts to Russian embassy staff in Western countries.
Also on Tuesday (25), the White House reinforced the information that the United States is preparing sanctions for Russia, adding that they will be simultaneous and not gradual sanctions.
A senior US presidential official further stated that the actions of the US may not be the same as those of European countries, but the intent is the same: "To create major consequences for Russia, to inflict an immediate and strong blow [...] to make its economy more fragile and to stifle [Russian President Vladimir] Putin's ambition to exert influence on the world stage."
The Russian government continues to deny the possibility of an invasion of Ukraine, arguing that the movement of troops on Russian territory should not be a cause for concern and that it is a response to the militarization of NATO along Russia's borders, including in Ukraine, which is not officially a member state.
At the end of last year, Moscow published plans to reshape European security, which propose ending NATO's eastward expansion and prohibiting the deployment of missiles, nuclear weapons, or military equipment near the borders of Russia and the countries of the Atlantic Alliance.
