The US condemns the Sumud Global Flotilla, demonstrating complicity with the crimes of aggressive Zionism.

Trump administration says the Flotilla is an "unnecessary provocation"

247 - On Thursday (2), the US State Department called the Sumud Global Flotilla mission, which is working to break the Israeli regime’s brutal siege of Gaza, “a deliberate and unnecessary provocation.” The US position goes against international support for the Flotilla after its interception by Israel when the vessels were about 74 nautical miles (approximately 137 kilometers) from the coast.

In the face of silence from many European governments, thousands of people took to the streets in several European, Asian, and Latin American countries to protest against the latest Israeli atrocity. Even larger demonstrations are expected this weekend, as they await Israel's response regarding the detained crew members.

The United States' statement, classifying the Sumud Global Flotilla's humanitarian mission as an "unnecessary provocation," reveals once again the face of imperialism that sustains and legitimizes the actions of the Israeli regime against the Palestinian people. Far from being a neutral assessment, the State Department's statement exposes a structural complicity with aggressive Zionism that has imposed suffering and death on the Gaza Strip for decades.

While dozens of international activists risked their lives at sea to break the blockade and bring food, medicine, and basic supplies to a population exhausted by hunger and war, Washington chose to criminalize solidarity.

The American position not only ignores the peaceful and humanitarian nature of the mission, but also endorses Israeli violence, which, by intercepting the flotilla in international waters, violated international conventions on free navigation and attacked unarmed civilians.

By classifying the flotilla's action as a "provocation," the US inverts the logic of reality: provocation is the blockade of more than a decade that turns Gaza into an open-air prison; provocation is the repeated non-compliance with UN resolutions; provocation is bombing civilians, denying them drinking water, energy, and medical assistance.

This stance, therefore, is not a mere diplomatic blunder—it is active complicity. The United States, Israel's greatest military and political ally, provides the weapons, political backing, and diplomatic cover that allow the aggression to continue. By condemning the flotilla, Washington places itself on the opposite side of international law, human rights, and the historical justice of the Palestinian people.

The hypocrisy is also glaring: the same government that claims to "protect its citizens" was unable to defend the Americans who were on board the humanitarian mission, preferring automatic alignment with Tel Aviv. This is yet another chapter in a long history in which the US, in the name of geopolitics and imperial dominance, supports the most brutal violations by the State of Israel, becoming directly co-responsible for the Palestinian tragedy.
