The US threatens and PAHO says it will investigate the More Doctors program in Brazil.
The US had threatened to cut funding if PAHO did not create an independent commission to investigate the Brazilian program.
Forum Magazine - US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo announced on Wednesday (15) that the Pan American Health Organization (PAHO), belonging to the UN, will investigate the hiring of Cuban health professionals sent to Brazil through the Mais Médicos program.
"The United States government welcomes PAHO's decision to launch an independent investigation to review its role in the Mais Médicos program," Pompeo said.
Responsible for 60% of the organization's budget, the US had threatened to cut funding if PAHO did not create an independent commission to investigate the program.
