247 - A website called Silent Professionals, aimed at recruiting professionals from the military and private security sector, offers up to US$2 (about R$10) per day, plus bonuses, to help rescue families in the conflict between Russia and Ukraine, according to information published this Thursday (10) in a report by BBC News

The platform does not disclose the name of the contracting company, but according to Robert Young Pelton, a specialist in private military companies (PMCs), professionals are being recruited for amounts between US$152 and US$6 million (R$30 and R$30 million) to help evacuate people from Ukraine.

The price of evacuations varies depending on the complexity of the job, explains Tony Schiena, CEO of Mosaic, a US-based intelligence and security consulting firm that already operates in Ukraine. "When there are a larger number of people, the risk increases. Children and families are more difficult. It all depends on the methods we use (for the evacuation)," he said.

Mosaic's missions are largely guided by intelligence, rather than armed confrontation, said Schiena, a former South African intelligence agent whose company is run by former high-ranking U.S. intelligence officials.

According to Schiena, Mosaic is currently working with private clients, corporations, and politically exposed persons to help evacuate them from Ukraine. He highlighted that an "intelligence agency from a very large country" that wanted to get its citizens out was among their clients.

"Depending on how the conflict unfolds, I think there will be a constant demand for (PMCs). There is a constant need and, as (the war) increases or decreases, there will always be something they ask us to do," he added.

A report by the Aerospace & Defense News website indicated that the global military and private security industry will be worth more than US$457 billion (R$2,3 trillion) in 2030, almost double the US$224 billion (R$1,3 trillion) in 2020.
