247 - Pope Francis on Sunday (26) urged the world not to forget the battle against malaria, which "threatens millions of people in several countries," because it is facing the new coronavirus pandemic. Saturday (25) was the international day of the fight against the disease. The information is from the portal G1.  

"As we fight the coronavirus pandemic, we must also increase our commitment to preventing and curing malaria, which threatens millions of people in many countries," the Pope declared at the end of Sunday's prayer.

In 2017, approximately 219 million people contracted malaria worldwide, resulting in 430 deaths. More than 90% of the disease's fatalities occurred in Africa, according to data from the World Health Organization (WHO).
