247 - The director of the World Health Organization (WHO), Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, stated that the new coronavirus pandemic is “controllable”, in a meeting with member countries this Thursday (12), concluding that the international community must redouble its efforts to contain Covid-19.
“This is a controllable pandemic. But we need greater vigilance to identify, isolate, diagnose and treat each case and break the chain of transmission,” said Ghebreyesus, who concluded: “Some countries are not facing the threat with the necessary political commitment.”
The strategy for containing the new coronavirus, established at the meeting, requires redoubled efforts from all other countries, while respecting human rights.
