Dilma concludes talks with BRICS ministers and takes a decisive step towards assuming the presidency of the bloc's bank.

The former president is awaiting confirmation of her nomination by the end of March.

247 - Former President Dilma Rousseff (PT) held virtual meetings with finance ministers from the BRICS countries (a bloc formed by Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa), according to reports. FSP.

The hearings with foreign officials are part of the nomination process for the former president to head the NDB (New Development Bank), a financial institution created by the group.

The finance ministers and equivalent ministers of the BRICS countries—including Brazil's Fernando Haddad (Finance)—are part of the NDB's Board of Governors. 

The council will decide on the appointment of the former president, which should be done by the end of March.  

Members of the Brazilian government expect Dilma to complete the formal rites by the end of March, when she is expected to accompany President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT) on an official trip to China.

During the conversations, Dilma gave a presentation in which she outlined her vision of the bank's role and the institution's challenges in the coming years.
