HANDLE - American actor Leonardo DiCaprio donated US$10 million to the Ukrainian Armed Forces, the local news agency "Ukrinform" reported on Tuesday (8).
The amount donated by the star will assist the Ukrainian army in the war against Russia and in humanitarian efforts carried out in the European country. According to the agency, citing "GSA News," this is the largest individual donation made to Ukraine since the beginning of the Russian invasion.
The actor, who has appeared in several successful films, such as "Titanic" and "The Revenant," has Ukrainian roots, as his maternal grandmother was born in the city of Odessa. She has been seen accompanying DiCaprio to various places, but passed away in 2008 at the age of 93.
Like many other stars, DiCaprio condemned the Russian attack, which began on February 24. He also expressed solidarity with the Ukrainian people.
