Taiwan's Labor Department of the CCP issues statement regarding Tsai Ing-wen's "transit" trip to the US.

China Radio International The spokesperson for the Taiwan Labor Department of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC) issued a statement last Thursday regarding the meeting between Taiwan's leader, Tsai Ing-wen, and Kevin McCarthy, Speaker of the United States House of Representatives. The full text of the statement follows:

Taiwan's leader, Tsai Ing-wen, met last Thursday with US House Speaker Kevin McCarthy during the former's so-called "transit" through the US. This is another provocative move by Taiwan's Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) officials to continue colluding with the US and "clinging to US support to pursue independence." We express our strong condemnation, will take resolute measures to punish the separatist forces seeking "Taiwan independence" and their behavior, and will resolutely safeguard China's sovereignty and territorial integrity.

For some time, the DPP authorities misjudged the situation, thinking that the strategic competition between China and the US offered opportunities to "cling to US support to pursue independence," and unscrupulously allied themselves with external forces. They are under the illusion that by clinging to the US, they can be utterly brazen in their provocative attempt to seek "independence" and betray the interests of the Chinese nation. Tsai's "transit" is nothing more than a cover for these "independence" schemes.

Achieving the complete reunification of China is a shared aspiration of all sons and daughters of the Chinese nation, as well as an essential part of national rejuvenation. China must be and surely will be reunified. How can separatist forces seeking "Taiwan independence" stop the rolling wheel of history? Tsai and the DPP authorities, for the DPP's selfish motives, have entrenched themselves in the erroneous position of "Taiwan independence" and served as a tool for anti-China forces in the US to contain China. However, their actions can never change the fact that Taiwan is part of China, and will only push Taiwan to the brink of war and bring great suffering to Taiwanese compatriots.

There is only one China in the world, and Taiwan is part of China. The One China principle is a universally recognized norm of international relations and an accepted consensus of the international community. Solving the Taiwan issue is a matter for the Chinese people and an internal matter for China, and it does not tolerate external interference. The US side continually obscures and undermines the One China principle and severely violates its serious political commitment made in the three China-US joint communiqués. It also repeats erroneous actions and remarks regarding the Taiwan issue and sends seriously wrong signals to forces seeking "Taiwan independence." However, whatever actions are taken by anti-China forces in the US to "use Taiwan to contain China" or "contain China by supporting Taiwan" will not stop the historical process of China's reunification.

We urge the DPP authorities to completely abandon separatist schemes seeking "Taiwan independence" and stop going any further down the doomed path of "clinging to US support to pursue independence" to the point of no return. Any activity seeking "Taiwan independence" will be crushed by the powerful anti-secession and pro-reunification forces of the Chinese people.
