France surpasses 10 deaths from coronavirus. Peak has not yet been reached.
France surpassed the 10.000 death mark since the start of the coronavirus epidemic on Tuesday (7), which "continues to progress," according to France's Director General of Health, Jérôme Salomon.
247 - France surpassed the mark of 10 deaths from coronavirus on Tuesday (7).
Since the beginning of March, 7.091 deaths have been recorded in hospitals in France, or 597 more in 24 hours, and 3.237 in nursing homes and medical-social establishments, for a total of 10.328 deaths, said Jérôme Salomon, Director General of Health.
The death toll from nursing homes and other medical-social establishments has increased by 820 deaths compared to Monday's (6) announcement, but this jump is “undoubtedly associated with a delay in counting and the fact that we are leaving at the weekend,” Salomon stressed. Death tolls in nursing homes were not counted until the beginning of April.
To date, 2.958 nursing homes and 1.595 other medical and social facilities have reported at least one confirmed or suspected case of Covid-19 infection, Salomon said.
Approximately 30.000 people are hospitalized due to coronavirus infection. "This is an indicator that the epidemic continues to grow," he said, according to information from... RFI.
