247 - The BRICS People's Forum presented a series of proposals from civil society to the bloc meeting in Rio de Janeiro. This information was released by the BRICS agency. Brazil and Telesur.

Stédile formally delivered to the BRICS heads of state a document prepared by the BRICS People's Council, which brings together more than 120 popular organizations from the 11 member countries. The document advocates structural measures to address poverty, unemployment, and global inequality, including taxing billionaires and controlling capital in tax havens.

"The People's Council is the result of a democratic process, a collective construction among the peoples. Now, we need the BRICS leaders to have the political courage to implement these changes," said Stédile.

The proposal submitted to the leaders of the bloc is the result of months of debates involving seven thematic groups addressing areas such as health, education, ecology, culture, finance, digital sovereignty, and the institutional strengthening of BRICS. The process, which began in February 2025, culminated in the Special Session of the People's Council, held on Friday and Saturday in Rio de Janeiro.
