Palestinian National Council demands immediate withdrawal of Israeli troops from Gaza.
Palestinian legislative body denounces humanitarian crisis and classifies Israeli offensive as a violation of international law.
247 - The Palestinian National Council (PNC), the main legislative body and highest authority of the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO), demanded the immediate withdrawal of Israeli troops from the Gaza Strip.
The information was released by Telesur, which highlights the statements of the organization's president, Rouhi Fattouh. According to the institution, the situation in Gaza constitutes a political crime and a flagrant violation of international law, given the persistence of Israeli military operations and the absence of effective international pressure.
Rouhi Fattouh stated that the current humanitarian crisis in Gaza is a direct consequence of the Israeli occupation. During his participation in the Asian Parliamentary Assembly, held in Manama, Bahrain, the leader denounced the impact of the offensive on the civilian population and appealed for an immediate end to the violence. He called for a halt to the... "continuous killings, destruction, siege and systematic attacks against civilians and infrastructure".
The Council also condemned the intensification of Israeli incursions into the West Bank, classifying these actions as an aggravated violation of international law and Palestinian national sovereignty. According to the NPC, the expansion of military operations in different territories deepens instability and undermines any prospect of a lasting political solution.
