US Congress tries to block the risk of a possible nuclear war initiated by Trump.
The US Congress has introduced a bill entitled "Primitive Use Restriction of Nuclear Bombs" that should reduce the risk of conflict with other countries; "This law will prohibit Trump's initiative to carry out a primordial nuclear strike without a declaration of war by Congress. The 'preventive use' issue has become critically important now that President Donald Trump has the right to start a nuclear war at any time," said Democratic Senator Edward Markey; Trump has repeatedly mentioned this possibility to combat terrorism.
Sputnik The U.S. Congress has introduced a bill entitled "Prime Use Restriction of Nuclear Bombs" that should reduce the risk of conflict with other countries. "This law will prohibit Trump's initiative to carry out a prime nuclear strike without a declaration of war by Congress. The issue of 'preventive use' has become critically important now that President Donald Trump has the right to initiate a nuclear war at any time," explained one of the bill's authors and Democratic Senator Edward Markey.
According to him, the US president now has the right to be the first to use a nuclear bomb, recalling that Trump has repeatedly mentioned this possibility to combat terrorism.
"In times of crisis with another country that possesses nuclear weapons, such a policy significantly increases the risk of nuclear escalation. Neither Trump, nor any president, should have the right to use nuclear weapons, except in response to a nuclear attack," Markey emphasized.
Delcy Rodríguez, Venezuelan Minister of Foreign Affairs, during the meeting of the Russian-Venezuelan Interparliamentary Commission on May 26, 2015.
"Congress must act to maintain global stability by limiting the circumstances surrounding the U.S. being the first country to use a nuclear bomb," added co-author Ted Lieu.
The senator expressed concern regarding Trump's "notorious statements" made before his inauguration.
Previously, Trump wrote on his Twitter page that the US must strengthen and expand its capabilities in the area of nuclear weapons before "the world starts developing nuclear bombs." Later, the tycoon added that if the arms race intensifies, the US will have an advantage in this area.
But later, Trump stated he was willing to discuss with Russia the prospects of reducing the nuclear weapons potential of both countries.
