Bill and Hillary Clinton agree to testify in Epstein investigation, says advisor.
Former US president and former Secretary of State reportedly accepted invitation from the Oversight Committee.
247 - Former US President Bill Clinton and former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, both Democrats, have agreed to testify before the House Oversight Committee as part of the investigation into the Jeffrey Epstein case. The financier was arrested in 2019 on charges of committing at least 250 abuses against underage girls. About a month after his arrest, he was found dead in his cell, in an incident officially classified as suicide. This information comes from the agency. Reuters.
The confirmation of the presence of the American political couple was made by Angel Urena, deputy chief of staff to Bill Clinton, in a post on the social network X. According to him, both agreed to appear before the committee responsible for the investigation conducted by the House.
Advisor criticizes investigators' stance in publication.
In the message, Urena stated that the two maintained dialogue with the investigators. "They negotiated in good faith. You didn't," he wrote. He then added: "They said under oath what they know, but you don't care. Still, the former president and the former secretary of state will be there. They hope to set a precedent that applies to everyone."
The House Oversight Committee is investigating possible institutional failures and liabilities related to the Epstein case, which involved accusations of sex trafficking and child abuse and gained international attention in recent years. Urena's publication did not specify the expected date for the depositions nor detail the terms of the hearing, limiting itself to confirming Bill Clinton and Hillary Clinton's willingness to cooperate with the congressional investigation.
