China, Japan, and South Korea are coordinating a joint response to new US tariffs expected this Wednesday.

247 - In response to the recent tariffs imposed by the United States, ChinaJapan and South Korea have decided to intensify their economic cooperation. 

According to information from the Reuters agency, the three countries held their first economic dialogue in five years last Sunday (30), aiming to facilitate regional trade and jointly address tariff barriers. North American.

During the meeting, discussions focused on the import of raw materials for semiconductors from China by Japan and South Korea, while Beijing expressed interest in acquiring chip products from the two neighboring countries. 

The nations agreed to strengthen cooperation on supply chains and expand dialogue on export controls. Furthermore, they committed to accelerating negotiations for a trilateral free trade agreement, aiming to promote regional and global trade.

However, the interpretation of forming a joint response to the US tariffs has generated differing positions among officials from the governments involved. A spokesperson for the South Korean Ministry of Commerce stated that "the expression 'agreeing to a joint response to the US tariffs' appears to have been interpreted somewhat broadly," referring to the text of the countries' joint statement. The Japanese Ministry of Foreign Affairs did not immediately respond to requests for comment.

Tariffs triggered a rush to reorganize cooperation.

The tariffs imposed by US President Donald Trump have caused tensions in global trade. China, Japan, and South Korea, as major US trading partners, are seeking strategies to mitigate the impacts of these protectionist measures. Despite historical differences and territorial disputes, the three Asian countries are demonstrating a willingness to cooperate economically to face common challenges.
