247, with Diário do Povo - Regarding a statement issued by China's economic and trade advisory team, Ministry spokesperson Gao Feng said that the Chinese side's stance remains consistent and clear: China does not want trade disputes with the US to escalate.

To implement the agreements reached in Washington, the trade and economic teams of China and the US held sincere and in-depth consultations in Beijing on June 2nd and 3rd, and made positive and concrete progress in many areas.

According to the statement issued by the Chinese side, the economic and trade outcomes achieved in the talks will not take effect if the US imposes any trade sanctions, including raising tariffs.

During consultations last weekend, the two sides held concrete and in-depth discussions on some specific areas of trade cooperation, mainly agriculture and energy, Gao said.

"China is willing to increase imports from the US if the two sides reach a compromise."

Reform and opening up, as well as expanding imports, are the strategies established by China, which is willing to increase imports from other countries, including the US, to meet the growing needs of people for a better quality of life and the requirements of high-quality economic development, Gao said.

The Chinese market is growing and the China International Import Expo will be held in November, said the spokesperson, who also welcomed competitive products from around the world to enter the Chinese market.

China will create a favorable international business environment and offer more suitable, transparent, and predictable trade terms to benefit global companies, including American ones, he added.

The two sides still need to confirm the details of the consultations, Gao said, noting that bilateral economic and trade cooperation always moves towards achieving mutual benefits and win-win results despite some inequalities.

China is willing to expand cooperation and properly resolve differences through dialogue and consultation. It also hopes that the U.S. will work with China to maintain the stable and healthy development of bilateral economic and trade relations, Gao said.
