The "Human Rights Record in the United States in 2018" was released by the State Council's Communications Department in response to the 2018 Reports on Countries' Human Rights Practices, which the U.S. Department of State published on March 13.
The report from China stated that the United States government, a self-proclaimed "defender of human rights," has a flawed and lackluster human rights record and that its double standards regarding human rights are obvious.
With a preface and eight chapters, the 12-character report exposes human rights violations in the U.S. in different areas: the serious violation of citizens' civil rights, the prevalence of money-driven politics, the increase in income inequality, the worsening of racial discrimination and growing threats against children, women and immigrants, as well as human rights violations caused by unilateral America First policies.
The Department of Communications also published on Thursday a chronology of human rights violations in the United States in 2018, with 10 characters.
