China observes a national day of mourning this Saturday to honor those who died from the coronavirus.

President Xi Jinping, who is also the top leader of the Communist Party of China, led tributes on Saturday to the martyrs who died fighting the novel coronavirus disease and to the Chinese who lost their lives in the epidemic.

247 - By government decision, China will hold a National Day of Mourning this Saturday (4) in honor of the fatal victims of the coronavirus. 

The entire Chinese population observed three minutes of silence at 10:00 AM (Beijing time). Party and state leaders wore white flowers on their chests and paid silent tribute in front of the national flag, which was flown at half-mast, according to reports. Xinhua.

Air raid sirens blared, and cars, trains, and ships honked their horns.

In honor of the martyrs and fallen compatriots, national flags were flown at half-mast throughout the country and at all Chinese embassies and consulates abroad, and public recreational activities were suspended nationwide on Saturday.

A total of 81.639 confirmed cases of COVID-19 have been recorded in mainland China, and 3.326 people have died from the disease, according to the National Health Commission.
