Chileans protest against Piñera for postponing the plebiscite on the Constitution.
Chilean citizens protested against President Sebastián Piñera's government on Sunday, rejecting the postponement of the constitutional plebiscite that was supposed to have been held on April 26.
247 - The purpose of the plebiscite is to decide whether or not the population approves of replacing the current Constitution, which dates back to the time of Augusto Pinochet's dictatorship.
The popular consultation, in which Chileans will express their support for or opposition to a new Political Constitution, has been rescheduled for next October due to the health emergency declared because of the coronavirus pandemic.
Local media reported that participants in Sunday's protest banged pots and pans in various parts of Santiago.
Furthermore, a group of people held a protest in Plaza Italia, renamed Plaza de la Dignidad (Dignity Square), where they chanted the slogan "I approve, I approve".
