Arreaza confirmed the call made on Saturday by the President of the Republic, Nicolás Maduro, to activate the Montevideo Mechanism, in order to hold a conversation with the opposition that will yield satisfactory results for Venezuelans.
Arreaza emphasized that the initiative created by the governments of Uruguay, Mexico, Bolivia, and the member countries of the Caribbean Community of States (CARICOM) "is the most sincere and rigorous that has emerged so far."
"We want peace, so I call on the governments of the Montevideo Agreement to revive the initiative, so that Venezuela can enter the phase of peace talks as soon as possible," the Venezuelan president had said at a rally on Saturday.
