WikiLeaks case: soldier gets 35 years in prison
Bradley Manning, a member of the U.S. Army, was sentenced on Wednesday for providing classified files to WikiLeaks, in the largest breach of classified data in U.S. history; Judge Colonel Denise Lind convicted Manning last month on 20 counts.
FORT MEADE, United States, Aug 21 (Reuters) - U.S. Army soldier Bradley Manning was sentenced to 35 years in prison on Wednesday for providing classified files to WikiLeaks, in the largest breach of classified data in U.S. history.
Judge Colonel Denise Lind convicted Manning last month on 20 charges, including espionage and theft, which could carry a sentence of up to 90 years in prison, although prosecutors had requested a 60-year sentence.
