White House says it is “pleased” that Bolsonaro conceded defeat.
"We are pleased to see that President Bolsonaro has acknowledged the election results," commented White House spokeswoman Karine Jean-Pierre.
247 - After US President Joe Biden conceded victory and asked for cooperation from the president-elect Lula, the White House said it was "pleased" with Jair Bolsonaro's (PL) statement acknowledging defeat in this year's elections.
“We are pleased to see that President Bolsonaro has recognized the election results and authorized the start of the transition process. The TSE determined that the winner of the free and fair elections was President-elect Lula. The will of the Brazilian people must be respected,” commented White House spokeswoman Karine Jean-Pierre on Tuesday (2).
The White House acknowledged the results of the Brazilian elections less than an hour after the count ended. Biden spoke with Lula for about 20 minutes on Monday (31) to congratulate him on his victory.
