Carolina Bernardes: A strong Russia frightens the West.
The Russian consul in Belo Horizonte states that the cause of the crisis is the attempt to contain the country's advance, but affirms that the multipolar world is here to stay.
247 - The Russian consul in Belo Horizonte, Professor of International Relations Carolina Bernardes, gave an interview to journalist Leonardo Attuch, editor of TV 247, in which she explained the current crisis from a point of view – that of the Russians – which is always neglected by the Western media. "The Cold War completely distorted the image of Russia in Brazil and the West," she says. "The great reality is that a strong Russia bothers the West," she adds.
Carolina states that the hegemony of the United States no longer exists. "We are living through a historic moment and the creation of a new world order," she says. According to her, Russia will be able to overcome the sanctions imposed by the West. "Russia will accelerate the process of de-dollarizing its economy," she predicts. "The sanctions affect the economy, but Russia has prepared itself."
The Russian consul also believes that Jair Bolsonaro was right to travel to Russia. "These are long-term interests of two countries that are powers and partners in BRICS," she stated. Carolina also suggested that Brazilians get their information about Russia from independent media and Russian agencies, such as TASS and Sputnik. "The Brazilian press copies and pastes from the American press," she says.
