Breno Altman: São Paulo Forum is stigmatized by ignorance.
Journalist Breno Altman states that several factors contribute to misinformation about what the São Paulo Forum actually is; "Olavo de Carvalho discovered that by attacking the Forum, he creates a spectacle for himself, gaining the support of this imbecilic right wing; it is also important to mention the role of invisibility that the monopolistic media gives to the meeting," he affirms; watch the full interview with Breno Altman.
TV 247 - Journalist Breno Altman participated this Tuesday (25) in the program "Geopolitics with Igor Fuser", where he debunks falsehoods about the São Paulo Forum, which reaches its 24th edition in Havana, Cuba, this July. The journalist emphasizes that, in Brazil, "the São Paulo Forum is stigmatized by invisibility and ignorance".
Breno Altman explains that the São Paulo Forum is an organization of left-wing parties and forces, founded in 1990. "That year, the Workers' Party (PT) convened an international seminar to discuss the direction of the left in Latin America, remembering that, in that year, the Sandinistas lost the elections in Nicaragua, the end of the Soviet Union was approaching, and the United States' offensive in El Salvador and Guatemala had begun," he recalls.
The first Forum took place in São Paulo and was attended by 48 political parties. "At this seminar it was decided that the forum would be permanent, taking the name of the city that hosted the first edition," explains Altman.
"In addition to debating the problems of Latin America, the forum holds study workshops and develops solidarity actions against countries that are victims of imperialism. In other words: an articulation for debate and common action," says Altman.
Demystifying the Forum
Breno Altman states that two factors led to the creation of falsehoods about the São Paulo Forum: "Olavo de Carvalho discovered that, by attacking the event, he creates a spectacle for himself, gaining the support of this ignorant and imbecilic right wing," he says.
And he adds, "The logic of monopolistic media outlets, instead of informing, prefers not to cover an activity of this importance, generating misinformation," he concludes.
