Brazil condemns Israeli attack on humanitarian flotilla heading to Gaza.
Itamaraty (Brazil's Foreign Ministry) classified the attack as unjustified and reiterated that violent acts are unacceptable.
Brazil Agency - The Brazilian government, through Itamaraty, condemned this Wednesday (24) the Israeli drone attack suffered by vessels of the Global Sumud FlotillaThe vessel, which has Brazilian crew members, was in Greek waters last night. It is carrying humanitarian aid to Gaza, in Palestine, and departed from Spain at the end of August.
In a statement, the Brazilian Ministry of Foreign Affairs classified the attack as unjustified and reiterated that violent acts are unacceptable.
"By reinforcing the peaceful and humanitarian nature of the flotilla, Brazil once again urges Israeli authorities not to take any action that could jeopardize the safety of civilians and vessels," the government said.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs reported that it is in contact with the Greek authorities, through the Embassy in Athens, to monitor the investigation into the episode.
The Brazilian delegation is composed of activists Thiago Ávila, Bruno Gilga Rocha, Lucas Farias Gusmão, João Aguiar, Mohamad El Kadri, Magno Carvalho Costa, Ariadne Telles, Lisiane Proença, Carina Faggiani, Victor Nascimento Peixoto, and Giovanna Vial; Campinas city councilwoman Mariana Conti (PSOL); and the president of PSOL in Rio Grande do Sul, Gabrielle Tolotti.

The Spanish government announced it would send ships to escort the mission to Gaza and ensure the safety of the crew.
"The Spanish government demands compliance with international law and that the rights of our citizens to navigate the Mediterranean in safe conditions be respected," stated Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez.
