"We will do everything to ensure that democracy is restored, so that you can live in freedom. [...] So, we ask God, first and foremost, and then we will continue doing everything possible to restore order, democracy, and freedom. Therefore, to the people of Venezuela, we ask for resistance, much faith, and I believe that the solution will come soon," said Bolsonaro after the meeting.

The president's statement was recorded on video and released by the Planalto Palace. He also stated that Brazilians feel "embarrassed" by the political situation in the neighboring country and attributed part of the responsibility to his predecessors Lula and Dilma.

"We feel quite constrained, because if you don't have this freedom, we here feel the same way. We know how this misgovernment came to power, including with the help of presidents Brazil has had, like Lula and Dilma, and that makes us partly responsible for the situation you find yourselves in."

In addition to Bolsonaro, Martins and Cinose met with the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ernesto Araújo, at the Itamaraty Palace. The OAS representative gave a brief summary of the meetings in Brasília. "President Jair Messias Bolsonaro and the Minister of Foreign Affairs strongly expressed their support for ending this terrible situation that the people of Venezuela are experiencing."

In a statement, the Brazilian Foreign Ministry (Itamaraty) said: "The system headed by Nicolás Maduro constitutes an organized crime mechanism. It is based on widespread corruption, drug trafficking, human trafficking, money laundering, and terrorism."

The Venezuelan opposition is organizing a large demonstration for the 23rd and is preparing to unleash violent actions in the country with external support.
