Sputnik - CNN announced today, Wednesday (29), that Presidents Joe Biden and Vladimir Putin will speak by phone this Thursday (30) on "a range of topics," while preparations are being made for face-to-face security talks between the US and Russia in January.

In the phone call, later confirmed by the White House and the Kremlin, the leaders of the US and Russia "will discuss a range of topics, including upcoming diplomatic engagements with Russia," said US National Security Council spokeswoman Emily Horne.

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov confirmed to Sputnik that the presidents of Russia and the United States plan to hold a conversation tomorrow evening.

"Yes, a phone call between Putin and President Biden is scheduled for tomorrow evening, very late," Peskov said.

The conversation between the two heads of state will take place amid heightened tensions involving Ukraine.
