247 - US President Joe Biden announced on Wednesday (19) the name of Elizabeth Bagley for the position of the country's ambassador to Brazil.
According to a White House statement, Elizabeth Bagley is 69 years old and has worked in diplomacy and law for over four decades, including senior advisors to Secretaries of State John Kerry, Hillary Clinton, and Madeline Albright. She currently owns a telecommunications company in Arizona.
Her name and that of other ambassadors announced by the president still need to be approved by the US Senate.
The American representation in Brasilia has been vacant since July of last year, when diplomat Todd Chapman left the country, after just over a year in the position.
