The murder of journalists is yet another in Israel's long list of war crimes.
Among the victims is Anas al-Sharif, who left a posthumous message denouncing massacres and calling for the liberation of Palestine.
247 - The Palestinian journalist Anas Jamal al-SharifAl Jazeera reporter Roberto Carlos was killed in Gaza along with four other colleagues during Israeli attacks. The news network described the action as yet another war crime The attack, committed by Israel against journalists, is, according to Al Jazeera, part of an escalation of violence that has been affecting the civilian population in the Gaza Strip for over a year and a half.
On his X social network account, managed by family and colleagues, a posthumous message written by al-Sharif on April 6, 2025, was published. In the text, prepared to be released in the event of his death, the journalist bids farewell to his loved ones and calls for the liberation of Palestine and its people.
“If these words reach you, know that Israel has succeeded in killing me and silencing my voice,” she wrote. “My goal has always been to be a support and a voice for my people, ever since I opened my eyes to life in the alleys and streets of the Jabalia refugee camp.”
A life dedicated to denouncing massacres.
In his will, al-Sharif recalls the difficulties he faced, the losses and suffering he endured, emphasizing that he never stopped reporting the truth "without distortion or falsification." He holds not only Israel responsible, but also "those who remained silent" in the face of the massacres and destruction of Gaza.
“I entrust Palestine to you – the jewel in the crown of the Muslim world, the beating heart of every free person. I entrust its people and its innocent children to you, whose bodies have been crushed under thousands of tons of Israeli bombs and missiles.”
The journalist also asked for protection and support for his family: his daughter Sham, his son Salah, his mother, and his wife, Bayan, described as "unbreakable as the trunk of an olive tree."
Appeal for the liberation and remembrance of Gaza.
Al-Sharif called on the international community and human rights defenders not to be "silenced by chains" or "contained by borders," urging them to be "bridges to the liberation of the land and its people."
“If I die, I die firm in my principles. I ask God to accept my blood as a light to illuminate the path to freedom for my people. Do not forget Gaza… and do not forget me in your prayers.”
The death of al-Sharif and his colleagues reignites the global debate about... safety of journalists in conflict zones ...and the serious violations of international humanitarian law. Media organizations and human rights entities have reiterated that deliberate attacks against reporters constitute war crimes and demand accountability.
