247 - One day after Brazil voted at the United Nations (UN) in favor of a resolution against Russia for the war in Ukraine.President Lula (PT) reaffirmed on Twitter the need for a "group of countries not involved in the conflict" to act as a peace mediator to end the conflict.
"At a time when humanity, with so many challenges, needs peace, it has been a year since the war between Russia and Ukraine began. It is urgent that a group of countries, not involved in the conflict, take on the responsibility of initiating negotiations to restore peace," the president posted this Friday (24), the date that marks one year since the start of the war.
Lula's statement comes in the wake of criticisms of Brazil's stance at the UNBy voting in favor of the resolution against Russia, Brazil may have compromised its position of neutrality, which would guarantee its relevance as a potential mediator of peace between Moscow and Kiev, experts argue.
