After face-to-face meeting with Blinken, Lavrov calls for an end to the "anti-Russian hysteria".

The Russian minister criticized the "Russophobic minority," which, in his opinion, sets the tone for Western foreign policy.

247 - After face-to-face meeting in GenevaIn Switzerland, this Friday (21), Anthony Blinken, US Secretary of State, and Sergey Lavrov, Russian Foreign Minister, signaled a willingness to maintain dialogue on the crisis involving Ukraine. However, there was no progress on the main impasses of the Ukrainian issue. 

Moscow awaits answers to its security demands, and Washington renews its promise of a severe reaction to an alleged invasion of Ukraine. At the meeting, Lavrov reiterated that the Kremlin does not plan an invasion of Ukraine. 

Moscow's security demands involve preventing NATO expansion eastward. Washington persists in provoking this by injecting resources into the Ukrainian government at the fastest pace since [date missing]. Crimea's vote in favor of integration into Russia.The Kremlin has mobilized approximately 100 troops to the border region with Ukraine. 

Lavrov called on the West to end the “anti-Russian hysteria” that permeates the narratives. He said his country poses no threat to any other nation and confirmed his intention to meet again with Blinken following the American responses to Russian demands. 

The minister criticized the "Russophobic minority," which, in his opinion, sets the tone for Western foreign policy.

Blinken welcomed the willingness to engage in dialogue. 

“We didn’t expect that major progress could be made today, but I believe we are on the path to better understanding each other’s positions,” said Blinken.

"If Russia wants to start convincing the world that it doesn't have aggressive intentions towards Ukraine, a good starting point would be to de-escalate by removing troops from the border with Ukraine," he continued.
