Following accusations of biological weapons, Russia also says the US is interested in insects that spread infections.

Sputnik - In its research in Ukraine, the Pentagon was also interested in insects that transmit infections. More than 140 containers of fleas and ticks were transported abroad from the Kharkiv laboratory, stated Lieutenant General Igor Kirillov of the Russian Armed Forces.

"The Pentagon is also interested in insect carriers capable of spreading dangerous infectious diseases. Analysis of the received materials confirms the fact that more than 140 containers of bat ectoparasites – fleas and ticks – were transferred from the biolaboratory in Kharkiv to other countries," stated Kirillov, who commands Russia's Chemical, Biological and Radiation Defense Forces.

According to him, the words of the US Under Secretary of State for Political Affairs, Victoria Nuland, regarding the existence of biosafety biological research facilities in Ukraine are considered by the Russian Ministry of Defense to be an indirect confirmation of the Pentagon's participation in biological-military programs in Ukraine.

Nuland recently stated that there are biological research facilities in Ukraine, and that Kyiv and Washington are currently working to prevent the materials stored there from falling into the hands of Russian forces.

"Basically, with her statements, Nuland indirectly confirmed the implementation of a Pentagon biological-military program in Ukraine, thus circumventing existing international agreements," the Russian military official noted.

Kirillov emphasized that Nuland had expressed concern about the possibility of these biolaboratories and the materials contained therein coming under the control of the Russian Armed Forces.

According to available information, the Americans have already managed to evacuate most of the documentation from the laboratories in Kiev, Kharkiv, and Odessa, including databases, biomaterials, and equipment, to the Research Institute of Epidemiology and Hygiene in Lviv and to the US consulate in Lviv. The possibility that part of the collection was sent to Poland cannot be ruled out.

One of the objectives of the US and its allies is to create bioagents capable of selectively attacking various ethnic groups, particularly Slavs, stated a specialist from the Russian Ministry of Defense at a press conference regarding the results of the analysis of documents related to US biological-military activities in Ukrainian territory.

He noted that representatives of Western countries are extremely cautious regarding the transfer of their biomaterials, but even so, a large quantity of blood serum from inhabitants of different regions of Ukraine belonging exclusively to the Slavic ethnic group was transferred abroad.

"With a high degree of probability, it can be said that one of the tasks of the US and its allies is the creation of bioagents capable of selectively affecting different ethnic groups," Kirillov noted.

A representative from the Russian Defense Ministry further detailed that birds with identification rings, released in accordance with the interests of the Kherson Askania-Nova biosphere reserve's biological-military program, were captured in April 2021 in the Russian regions of Ivanovo and Voronezh, according to a document revealed by the Russian Ministry of Defense.
