Behind closed doors, Biden attacks Scholz, Macron, Boris Johnson and Putin, according to international media.
Biden appears bothered by colleagues' involvement in matters related to the crisis in Ukraine.
Sputnik - During closed-door sessions, US President Joe Biden commented on the behavior of some of his colleagues involved in matters relating to the crisis in Ukraine, reports NBC News.
According to anonymous sources from the television channel, Biden once said that the current German Chancellor Olaf Scholz "is not Angela Merkel," and also described the behavior of British Prime Minister Boris Johnson as "impetuous."
Referring to French President Emmanuel Macron, the American president stated that he "wants to be Charles de Gaulle," according to internal sources.
Furthermore, the president openly attacked Russian President Vladimir Putin, calling him "a guy with nuclear weapons and no friends."
In response to alleged comments by Biden regarding Macron, Scholz, Johnson, and Putin, National Security Council spokeswoman Emily Horne said in a statement that "these anonymous rumors bear no resemblance whatsoever to what the president says or thinks about his colleagues, whom he respects and values."
"President Biden is pleased with the cooperation between the U.S. and our European allies and partners, including how we are addressing the ongoing crisis of the concentration of Russian troops on the Ukrainian borders," she added.
The report came amid rising tensions surrounding Ukraine, with Washington and its allies accusing Moscow of planning "an invasion" of the neighboring country. The Kremlin has repeatedly rejected the allegations, and points out that the story of "Russian aggression" is being artificially promoted in the media in order to create a pretext for sending NATO forces to Eastern Europe.
