247 - In an article signed by Cuban journalist Odette Díaz Fumero, correspondent in Caracas, the Prensa Latina agency denounces the incessant production of fake news on social media about the situation in Venezuela.

The political purpose is well defined, the journalist points out: to increase the pretexts for a military intervention in the South American country.

"Lies as a tool of information warfare on a global level are currently being used as a narrative support by Washington to apply measures of force, whether financial or judicial sanctions, or greater interference in internal affairs," the journalist points out.

The article compares the spread of "fake news" in Venezuela against the government of Nicolás Maduro with the media campaigns against the former presidents of Libya, Muammar Gaddafi, Iraq, Saddam Hussein, and the Syrian president Bashar Assad.
