Yahoo is getting more social.

The email page has been redesigned and now integrates with Facebook, Twitter, and other websites; new tools will be implemented soon.

247 – The famous Yahoo email service has just become more social. The page has undergone a redesign that facilitates access to Facebook, Twitter, Google, and other communication networks. The change, officially announced this Tuesday by the company, has been in testing for seven months. The new version will be rolled out to approximately 277 million users of the free service in the coming weeks.

The new tools promise to post files up to 100 MB and make the process twice as fast. In addition to posting, users will be able to reply to Facebook messages from the Yahoo screen, as well as update their status and view their Twitter timeline. The system will select the messages and friends that seem most relevant to users, chosen according to how frequently they interact via Messenger. It will also be possible to chat with Facebook friends through the social network's chat feature.

The changes to Yahoo's website come at a time when the site is losing users to the also free Gmail, which belongs to Google. Despite having more users than Gmail, Yahoo has been losing members, while Gmail has been gaining. Last April, Yahoo registered 277 million users worldwide, a drop of 3 million compared to the same period last year. Gmail, on the other hand, reached 220 million registrations, a jump of 43 million (or 24%) over the past year, according to data from comScore Inc. With the changes to its website, Yahoo intends to retain – and even gain more – internet users.
