Vera Magalhães: The country experiences its worst day of the pandemic, caught between the glorification of arbitrary rule and the reign of lies.

The journalist refers to Jair Bolsonaro's stance during this coronavirus epidemic. The columnist says that, in his latest pronouncement, the occupant of the Planalto Palace appeared "frightened."

247 - "We are experiencing the worsening of the new coronavirus pandemic while being subjected, on the one hand, to the glorification of arbitrariness and, on the other, to the reign of lies as state policy," says Vera Magalhães in her column published in newspaper The State of S.Paulo.

Commenting on Jair Bolsonaro's statement made on Tuesday night (31), the journalist states that she saw an occupant of the Planalto Palace "frightened to back down from all recent bravado and only mention the help of the Armed Forces in the fight against the pandemic, without historical revisionism".

"For the first time, Bolsonaro prioritized the defense of life over that of jobs. He sought to show genuine empathy while reading from a teleprompter with a narrow expression and tight eyes."
