247 - Reporter Joaquim de Carvalho went into the field to reconstruct the 580 days of Lula's imprisonment - which took place between April 7, 2018 and November 8, 2019. The result is the documentary “580 days - Lula's imprisonment and triumphant return”, which will be released this Saturday (3) at 21 pm on the TV 247 channel on Youtube.

The film features exclusive testimonies from those who closely followed the former president's daily life, from his meeting at the ABC Metalworkers' Union, through his presentation to the Federal Police, his flight to Curitiba, his imprisonment, and his release.

The documentary shows behind-the-scenes footage and previously untold stories, with a special focus on the "Free Lula Vigil," located throughout Lula's imprisonment next to the Federal Police building in the capital of Paraná, and some of its key figures – leaders of unions, the Landless Workers' Movement (MST), and other social movements.

In an exclusive interview, lawyer Cristiano Zanin says that a federal police officer tried to handcuff former president Lula during the flight from São Paulo to Curitiba and another flew standing up, with a machine gun in an obvious position.

Marco Aurélio Carvalho, also a lawyer, founder of the Prerrogativas group and a friend of Lula, asserts that the violence committed by Lava Jato, and Judge Sérgio Moro in particular, contributed to the worsening health of one of Lula's best friends, Sigmaringa Seixas, who passed away on December 25, 2018.

Two lawyers who visited Lula from Monday to Friday and became great friends of the former president reconstruct remarkable conversations of a historic nature, such as the one Lula had with former Italian Economy Minister Roberto Gualtieri.

The current mayor of Rome, Gualtieri, was listening to Lula discuss the situation in Europe and outline his perspectives when he asked for a pen and paper. "I need to write. Few people in the world are capable of making an analysis of Europe like this," he said.

At the end, he hugged Lula, cried and said he didn't understand how Brazil allowed the imprisonment of a politician of the former president's stature, without proof of any crime.

Other conversations between foreign leaders who went to Curitiba during Lula's imprisonment, without passing through Brasília, are also reconstructed in the documentary.

There are revelations of moments that were not political, such as the day Lula took a self-portrait, responding to the request of a child who had sent him a letter.

“580 Days,” a document for history, is directed by Joaquim de Carvalho and Patri Salgado, with images by Eric Monteiro and photography by Ricardo Stuckert and the Lula Livre Vigil. The film was produced with resources from Comunidade 247 - and displays the names of all supporters in the credits.
