Tijolaço: Meirelles, another 880 unemployed people want to know about "growth"

The Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE) released the unemployment rate for the November-December-January quarter: 12,6%, 0,8% higher than the period from August to October 2016, when unemployment was 11,8%, and 3,1% higher than the same quarter a year earlier. "Converting this into people: that's 12,9 million Brazilians without jobs, 879 more than in the August-October 2016 quarter, and 3,3 million more than in the same quarter of the previous year. This multitude must be very curious to know where the Minister of Finance, Henrique Meirelles, found the so-called 'economic growth' that has returned to Brazil," says Fernando Brito of Tijolaço.

By Fernando Brito, from Tijolaço - IBGE released the unemployment rate for the November-December-January quarter: 12,6%, 0,8% higher than the period from August to October 2016, when unemployment stood at 11,8%, and 3,1% higher than the same quarter a year earlier.

In terms of people: there are 12,9 million Brazilians without jobs, an increase of 879 people compared to the August-October 2016 quarter, and an increase of 3,3 million people compared to the same quarter of the previous year.

This crowd must be very curious to know where the Finance Minister, Henrique Meirelles, found this "economic growth" that has returned to Brazil.

And that's open unemployment; it doesn't include those who have given up looking for work or are getting by with part-time jobs.

The figures for these, released yesterday, are already outdated given the results from January, and should easily exceed 25 million people.
