The report gained access to an email sent by Ali Kamel, the network's Director of Journalism, to Globo's newsroom this Wednesday. The report also found that 17 professionals have already been laid off from Globo's newsroom in Rio de Janeiro and 20 from its São Paulo news team. The network is reportedly facing significant staff losses, as many employees have also taken or will take leave this month.
In both Rio and São Paulo, the work schedules for the coming weekends are having to be adjusted to cover all the gaps in the teams.
"As we all know and are reporting, the omicron variant has arrived with force. It is therefore essential that we redouble our precautions, in our professional lives, but also in our personal lives. We need to wear masks at all times in the workplace, sanitize our hands and equipment, and avoid crowds," he advises.
