Registration is open for the event, which brings together experts to discuss strengthening alternative media and democratic regulation of digital platforms.

Current Brazil Network - The State Commission of Bloggers and Digital Activists, with the support of the Barão de Itararé Center for Alternative Media Studies, will hold the 4th State Meeting of Bloggers and Digital Activists of São Paulo next Saturday (6). The event will take place at the headquarters of the Union of Municipal Employees of São Paulo (Sindsep), in the Old Center of the capital, from 9 am to 17 pm.

The goal of the meeting is to discuss ways to strengthen alternative media. Proposals for [the future/topic] will also be discussed. democratization of communication and the democratic regulation of the media and of digital platforms.

“Our challenge is to ensure that diversity is present, promoting the exchange of experiences with bloggers, activists and indigenous, black, LGBTQIA+ leaders, parliamentarians and digital media experts so that we are prepared to occupy the networks, strengthen ourselves and defend democracy,” says journalist Aparecido Araújo Lima, known as Cidoli, one of the organizers.

The #4BlogProgSP will feature the participation of the coordinator of Barão de Itararé, Altamiro Borges, and the journalist Cris Guterres, columnist for the blog. Universa, presenter of Free Station TV Culture, host and producer of Meteora PodcastThe journalists Gisele Alexandre, from Mural of the Peripheries, and Laís Diogo, from Periphery in MotionThey also bring their experiences in producing journalism in the favelas.

Agenda

After breakfast and the distribution of materials, at 9:00 AM, the opening panel will focus on the theme of Communication and Strengthening Democracy. Participating as panelists are federal deputy Juliana Cardoso (PT-SP) and the general coordinator of the Digital Policies Secretariat of the Secretariat of Social Communication of the Presidency of the Republic, Marina Pita. The session will be moderated by journalist Alessandra Jorge.

Next, professor and journalist Laurindo Lalo Leal Filho and professor and sociologist Sérgio Amadeu will discuss the democratic regulation of media and digital platforms (big techs). Professor Nelice Pompeu, from the Schools in Struggle Movement and the Resistance Collective, will moderate.

In the afternoon, Altamiro Borges and journalist and TVT vice-president Paulo Salvador will discuss the financing and difficulties faced by independent media, moderated by professor and media activist Emílio Lopez.

Finally, the panel on Peripheral and Indigenous Media will feature journalist Lais Diogo, who works at the production company... Periphery in Motion, and Gisele Alexandre, founder of the podcast Send News and editor-in-chief of the independent newspaper People's SpaceThe journalist Anderson Moraes, founder of the newspaper empowered The director of Barão de Itararé coordinates the discussion.
