247 Globo has decided to downgrade its news divisions in Recife and Belo Horizonte following a series of layoffs last week. The leading broadcaster will eliminate the position of Director of Journalism in both cities to save money. Executives Marcelo Moreira and Jô Mazzarolo will not be replaced. The current newsroom heads will remain in their roles, but will now report to Rio de Janeiro.

According to the portal In TV news, the newsroom heads will handle the day-to-day operations of the team and make more bureaucratic decisions regarding reporting, editorial line, and hiring professionals. The selection of presenters and reporters, as well as other relevant decisions, will only be made by the headquarters in Rio de Janeiro.
