Russia decides to block access to Facebook in the country.

Roskomnadzor, the Russian media regulator, also blocked websites belonging to international news outlets.

Metropolises - The Russian media regulator Roskomnadzor decided on Friday (March 4) to block the social network Facebook in Russia, in response to restrictions on access to media outlets from that country in other parts of the world.

According to the Russian state news agency RIA Novosti, Roskomnadzor claims that, since October 2020, 26 cases of discrimination against Russian media have been registered on the social network.

"In recent days, the social network has restricted access to accounts belonging to: the Zvezda TV channel, the RIA Novosti news agency, Sputnik, Russia Today, and the news outlets Lenta.ru and Gazeta.ru," says the regulatory agency's report.
