Rovai defends supporting Boulos in São Paulo: "it's the left's obligation to get a candidate into the second round"
A journalist from Fórum also said that, in Rio de Janeiro, it is the PSOL party that should support the PT, that is, hold back the candidacy of state deputy Renata Souza and support the candidacy of federal deputy Benedita da Silva for mayor. Watch.
247 - Journalist Renato Rovai, editor of Revista Fórum, argued that the PT (Workers' Party) should drop Jilmar Tatto's candidacy and support Guilherme Boulos' (PSOL) candidacy for mayor of São Paulo. In a live broadcast on TV 247, Rovai also commented on the situation in Rio de Janeiro. According to him, the PSOL should hold back the candidacy of state representative Renata Souza and support federal representative Benedita da Silva (PT).
“In my opinion, we have to support Boulos in São Paulo. I think the time has come when, if the PT doesn't have a candidate for the race, it has to support Boulos; it's the left's obligation to get a candidate to the second round. And in Rio de Janeiro? Renata Souza is a young, good candidate, but exactly Benedita's profile. Are they launching a candidate to compete for votes with Benedita? Is that PSOL's strategy? If so, it's very ugly, very ugly. Between Benedita and Renata, who has more experience to take on a mayoralty at a time like this? It's Benedita.”
According to Rovai, neither Jilmar Tatto nor Renata Souza will make it to the second round in their respective cities. “Just as we're saying here in São Paulo that Jilmar doesn't currently have the conditions to form an alliance to reach the second round, the same applies to Renata. 'If Renata gets more votes than Benedita, I want to see what you'll say, Rovai,' I don't doubt that Jilmar also gets more votes than Boulos, but both of them will end up in the same boat, neither of them will make it to the second round.”
