Raphael Coutinho_247 – When it comes to technology, Porto Digital continues to stand out on the national scene. For the second time, the group of companies based in Recife, Pernambuco, has won the award for best technology park in Brazil. The selection was made during the XXI National Seminar of Technology Parks and Business Incubators, organized by the National Association of Entities Promoting Innovative Enterprises (Anprotec), held at the end of October in Porto Alegre, Rio Grande do Sul.

“This is recognition for the work that is done here in Pernambuco. This makes Porto Digital a benchmark in the country, since we have managed to surpass important parks such as those in Rio de Janeiro and São José dos Campos,” celebrates Guilherme Calheiros, director of innovation at Porto Digital.

During the same seminar, it was also decided that the Brazilian Innovation Congress of the Association will be held in Recife in 2013, with Porto Digital as the organizer. The title of best technology park in Brazil represents a gain for Porto Digital, enabling new investments to reach the organization, which promotes the development of technology.

Porto Digital had already been elected, in 2007, by Anprotec as the best technology park in the country. Porto Digital is a group of 200 organizations located on 100 hectares in the Recife Antigo neighborhood. The site has two incubators that support companies emerging in the Pernambuco technology scene. It employs approximately 6,5 people and represents 3,5% of Recife's Gross Domestic Product (GDP).
