Informal government spokesperson Alexandre Garcia said the pandemic was "hysteria."

"The coronavirus updates Freud in 'Hysteria' and 'Psychopathy of Everyday Life'. And Shakespeare, in 'Much Ado About Nothing'," said Alexandre Garcia on Twitter. To date, 4.291 people have died and more than 118 cases of coronavirus have been recorded in 114 countries.

247 - Journalist Alexandre Garcia, a supporter of Jair Bolsonaro's government, treated the coronavirus pandemic with irony.

"The coronavirus updates Freud in 'Hysteria' and 'Psychopathy of Everyday Life'. And Shakespeare, in 'Much Ado About Nothing'," Garcia said on Twitter.

The World Health Organization (WHO) declared a coronavirus pandemic on Wednesday (11), due to the increase in the number of cases, deaths and countries affected by the disease.

According to the WHO, the numbers are expected to rise even further in the coming days and weeks. "Describing the situation as a pandemic does not change the WHO's assessment of the threat posed by this virus. It does not change what the WHO is doing, nor what countries should be doing," stated Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, WHO Director-General.

To date, 4.291 people have died and more than 118 cases have been recorded in 114 countries. "This is a crisis that will affect all sectors," he added.
