The viral sensation of the moment, Harlem Shake

After the Gangnam Style phenomenon last year, the new meme is now capturing the attention of internet users worldwide. What do they have in common? Originality. Check out some versions.

Impressive, it's a flood of videos. Everyone is dancing to the hit Harlem Shake by the American DJ Baauer. At least, that's the impression it gives. Isn't it?

According to Wikipedia, it is estimated that around 12 different videos have been made for the same song. All of them are about 30 seconds long, the time needed for the dancers to impress with their creativity.

Each one funnier than the other. I confess that the ones done by athletes catch my attention the most. From the Manchester City football players to the Globo Esporte presenter Tiago Leifert.

The success

After the Gangnam Style phenomenon by South Korean singer Psy last year, the new Harlem Shake meme is now capturing the attention of internet users worldwide. What do they have in common? Originality.

Any viral campaign needs to be not only simple but also charismatic. But above all, it needs to create an instant connection with the audience. This isn't planned, it just happens. So, be careful when your client or manager asks you: "make a viral video for our brand." Run away, you won't be able to do it.

The videos

There are many versions, but I've selected a few videos of athletes dancing the Harlem Shake. Choose your favorite.
