NYT warns it will not make the Washington Post's 'mistake'.

NYT warns it will not make the Washington Post's 'mistake'.

247 To reassure their employees, Arthur Sulzberger and Michael Golden – members of the Ochs-Sulzberger family who control the New York Times Company – sent a memo stating that they are not planning to copy the Graham family, who sold the Washington Post to Amazon.

“It is sad to see a family from a great American newspaper like the Grahams walk away from the Post, a publication that we at the Times hold dear and share common ground with,” they said in a message signed on behalf of the administrators and their families in general.

'The Times is not for sale, and the Ochs-Sulzberger trustees and the rest of the family are united in our commitment to working together with the company's board, senior management and employees to move the “New York Times” forward into our global and digital future,' they added.

They say they hope, "for the sake of quality journalism and an informed citizenry," that Jeff Bezos' founder will maintain the Graham family's tradition of excellence.
