Google's new system is out!
Announced last night, the Ice Cream Sandwich operating system brings tools to keep up with a new generation of smartphones.
247 – Google's fourth version of Android was unveiled Wednesday night at an event in Hong Kong, China. Codenamed Ice Cream Sandwich, the new version aims to align the operating system with a new generation of smartphones about to hit the market. For example, the new Samsung gadget created in partnership with the internet giant, the Galaxy Nexus, was used as a showcase.
Responsible for the project and for presenting the new feature to the public, Matias Duarte highlighted some essential characteristics. The first would be the design, more attractive, with new icons and a more pleasant and innovative interface. Another point highlighted by Duarte was the practicality of the new tools, which are intuitive and easy to use, even for those who have never had an Android smartphone. The keyboard has been redesigned and now texts can also be narrated and transcribed by the system. Security was a concern for the developers, who included an open lock through facial recognition.
The new camera features have excited fans. Captured images will now be fully connected to the network and can be easily sent via email or even posted on social media using icons already displayed on the screen. New editing tools were also showcased, reminiscent of some existing applications.
All these new features will be in Samsung's Galaxy Nexus, the first device to use Ice Cream. The launch of both Ice Cream and the device is expected in November, but the official system update for devices already running Android is not yet scheduled and may not happen until next year.
