247 - Republishing an excerpt from an article by columnist Mariliz Pereira Jorge, from Folha de S. PaulJournalist Ricardo Noblat said on his social media page that "he imagined the Bolsonaro government would be bad, but not even in his worst nightmares could he have dreamed that we would live through this tragedy." Noblat is a columnist for O Globo, which fueled the coup against Dilma Rousseff in 2016.
In the article, Mariliz describes Bolsonaro as a "petty person," but says that he "may be the bitter medicine that Brazilians need to stop glorifying politicians, despite the horror they claim to have of them, and transform them into myths."
"Perhaps it's good that the 'myth' made it there. If the result had been different, we would have faced four years of hearing that the ballot boxes were rigged, that only he would be able to save us from all the problems that a country in such a mess as Brazil would face until it recovered. I don't even want to think about the strength he would have in 2022. Supermyth?", he emphasizes.
I imagined the Bolsonaro government would be bad, but not even in my worst nightmares could I have dreamed that we would live through this tragedy. Being the optimist I am, I try to see the positive aspects of electing such a petty person. https://t.co/WfbCFYeKun pic.twitter.com/f8ezA6urrr
